I recently submitted a photo of a (young)Sparrowhawk whihc was feasting on a sparrow in my garden. WHile taking that photo a male blackbird chased the Sparrowhawk away! (unfortunately no shot of this).
This morning I saw a male blackbird chasing a young Sparrowhawk out of my back garden and up over the roof of a house behind. This seems likley to be the same two birds. It seems particularly brave (or daft) is this unusual? Given that it's a young sprawk would the blackbird take on an adult in the same way? Is it just a particularly territorial or pumped-up male? Intriguing...
