Growths on Leaf?
Description:

I have no idea what these little red growths are on this leaf. Can anyone help? Are they likely to damage the tree?

galls

Most galls do not significantly harm their "host" - they will of course divert some of the plant's energy.

Galls are growths of the plant in response to (usually) an egg being laid in their tissue.

Most galls are caused by invertebrates and they only occur on one species of plant and possibly its close relatives (they are specific to the species)

Plants may be attacked by a number of different gall causers but the type of growth is usually specific to the causer.
