allergenic

The Giant Hogweed produces a blistering effect on skin that can be reactivated by sunlight (photosensitivity).

There are resports that "ordinary" hogweed (Heracleum sphondyllium)can do the same see

http://www.pfaf.org/user/Plant.aspx?LatinName=Heracleum+sphondylium

and

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Furanocoumarin

It is probably not a good idea to strim hogweed unless adequately covered or to let children use the stems as peashooters!
