J01_2692 Cardinal Beetle
Description:

I snapped a Cardinal Beetle last year but that one had a black head. Given this one's red head, I'm hoping it's P. serraticornis. Strangely, Chinery doesn't seem to talk of confusing species but you never know. ;-)
Cute little feller.

Lily Beetle

Hi Ben, the Lily Beetle is smaller and has a black head. It also has pronounced shoulders on the pronotum and pitted elytra.

Lily beetles

Lily beetles have black heads and are even more brightly coloured. Have a look at http://www.ispot.org.uk/node/330217 or look on any lily or fritillary in my garden.
