Interesting, I was all set to question the identification of this animal based on the tail length - looks rather short for a pygmy shrew. Then I noticed you were in Ireland where you only have the pygmy shrew, no common shrews. I wonder if this is common amongst Irish pygmy shrews that their tails are proportionally shorter or just a bad judgement call on my part?
