Association

Is there a particular association between Chiffchaffs and apple trees? I would have thought association implied a regular interaction between the two organisms, whereas this just seems like a random visit to a tree of a bird moving through a habitat.

associations

I would have preferred to use "feeding in" to describe the association but this is not available. There is no doubt that chiffchaffs are reliant on trees to feed in, but I agree that they aren't as dependent on apple trees as, for example, jays are on oak trees. Still a valid association though.

sorry

Bob - an apology - I have direct-linked this post as an example of MY dislike of the Graphic Display (perhaps associations in general) at http://www.ispot.org.uk/node/350164#comment-121670
Nothing personal OF COURSE.
I notice that it is quoted more than once in other threads too..
Your note above explains your reasoning but here is not the place to expand.
