Description:

Pink and cream coloured Apple-like objects on Oak saplings on woodland margin. Assuming these are Oak "Apples" as opposed to "Marbles", therefore likely culprit is B. pallida.

Fresh apples

Certainly look like 'oak apples'. Fresh at the moment, will become browner, more papery and shrivelled later in the year.

Incidentally, 29th May is 'Oak Apple Day' and was a national holiday in England until mid 19th century.
