Description:

I had read that Dryopteris affinis agg. were easily spotted in the spring (from the colour of the new fronds), but hadn't believed it until yesterday (I had completely failed to find any in spring 2012). All in all I found about 30 plants scattered around a group of woodlands.
Now to see if I can find specimens elsewhere. (I've got a number of records based on overwintering foliage, but the new fronds can perhaps be spotted at a greater distance.)
