Ganodema applanatum - Epping Forest-001

Very large bracket fungus growing on an enormous ancient Beech in Epping Forest. The edge of the bracket seems very thin, leading me to believe this might be Ganoderma applanatum rather than G. australe?

Caution: Do NOT use iSpot to identify fungi to eat!

Some fungi are very poisonous so a mistaken ID could have serious consequences.
