Description:

Small moss on birch on north-facing slope in an exposed part of Ashdown Forest.
Stem 5mm. Leaves 2mm, spear-shaped, curled when dry, transculent, with nerve ending in short hair like extension.
Capsules light brown, apparently smooth, translucent, c. 1.2 mm long.
Orthotricum, Ulota, Zygodon?

Ulota or Dicranoweisia

Ulota is a possibility, and Dicranoweisia might be worth considering too. I don't think it's likely to be a Zygodon and I'm doubtful about Othotrichum
