Observed: 12th May 2013 By: Prestbury

We have good numbers of this species presently foraging in the garden. However, earlier today we observed what appeared to be the black females being chased off the Flowers of lungwort by one or two different coloured bees of a similar size.
Unable to capture this behaviour on camera but at the time, it seemed to be aggressive. However, having looked up the likely candidate for this behaviour it seems that they may have been males of the same species. Is this nuptial courtship?

ID comment

Hi, you are correct but your Latin name has gone slightly awry owing to the brackets. If you add a revised ID and enter "Hairy Footed Flower Bee" and then press "get recommended" for the Latin name, it will then link to other sightings on iSpot.
