In the early spring I saw a bird that I cannot identify. I first saw it on the banks of the River Bollin in Bowdon Cheshire and then a fortnight later on flooded meadow at Dunham Massey. At first I mistook it for a Dipper on the riverbank, it was a similar size, but maybe a bit bigger, dark in colour, black or dark brown but the standout feature was the pure white tail of the bird. I do not know if the birds tail showed white from above or below but it did appear to be all white. I apologise for my poor description, but my eyes are not as keen as they once were. It appeared to be a wader but I cannot be 100% sure.
