Description:

I've been chasing this fly for a couple of weeks, caught up with it in the woods today. A bit of a glut of new flies today

yes. I wonder if Roger regards it as a single species, or whether it matches any of several 'forms'

Edit: don't I need males, for further examination?

thanks WLR. I've seen it several times but couldn't even get a shot. Today everything seemed to be both out and willing to hang around. I was really only looking for an early Solva, and got loads of other new stuff instead. Including lots of colourful Long-legged flies, but they're for keying

a tricky species, apparently it can be looked at for some time and then just get dumped here for want of anything better. A specimen that needs to be examined closely

- perhaps it's not possible to do satisfactorily from photos so should be labelled as a 'group'
