Good Year for Tadpoles!

Observed: 17th May 2010 By: kildonan0_1

A walk around an old farmers pond near Holmes Chapel in Cheshire, I witnessed the waters edge black with Tadpoles. I have never seen such numbers in the past. So thick were they that Crows and Magpies were able to gorge themselves from the bank!

I have to say I have not noticed there being more tadpoles than usual this year. However, I've been doing a lot of pond dipping with the public recently and many of these have commented on seeing more tadpoles this year, or tadpoles in places where they have not seen them before.

Therefore, perhaps there are many more this year, lets hope so.
