Erica persoluta ...

... is a South African plant, and I think not hardy in Britain. The only spring-flowering heather native to the British Isles is Erica erigena, and that native only to parts of Ireland.

I'd suggest Erica carnea, Erica erigena, or their hybrid Erica x darleyensis.
