Two "growths" on the trunk of a Silver Birch tree. Innitially I thought they were Fungi

Some fungi are very poisonous so a mistaken ID could have serious consequences.
No interactions present.
If so it maybe a wasp nest of some kind.

I've always referred to this as Hoof Fungus - (also known as Tinderbox - it can be used to light a fire).
