Don't be fooled by the daft English name though. This is by no means a particularly early flying species - in fact, it is a mid-spring bee and can still be found in late June
It is, frankly, rather surprising that the English name "Early Mining-bee" wasn't given to a genuinely early flying species such as A. praecox.... especially as its specific name actually means "Early"
