Description:

Stems up to 2cm long, leaves 4mm, sword-like, ending in a fine hair, especially those leaves at tip of stem, which was up to 2mm long. Transluscent leaves, which actually looked nerveless to me. No capsules

Now a very common moss of heathland areas.

Now a very common moss of heathland areas, but this year I found it rather surprisingly on a large fallen oak at Standen National Trust site East Grinstead just a few miles away.

I've found it on an old fallen beech near here too.
