Midge, not mosquito?

When I heard the buzzing I did immediately think mosquito. But I have hardly come across them here, and not this early.

Hi Fleshisgrass, The buzzing

Hi Fleshisgrass,

The buzzing is typical of many chironomidae species, trout fishers call them buzzers. The noise is very high pitched when they venture too close to the ear or right into the ear as you may have discovered?

the buzzing indeed

Annoying but I try to avoid harassing the other animals that set up home in my home - fortunately it settled under the lamp and I could watch Parks and Recreation in peace.

Thanks all.
