I realise the spots on the face or lack of is definitive but thought the spots on the abdomen were indicative of V. germanica.
I try to learn from my postings on i spot so would love to know why it's certainly not V. germanica Mydaea.

Thanks very much Mydaea. That pdf file is really helpful. Looks like I might have a queen V. vulgaris.
I think that is probable. Maybe if you agree to the vulgaris above the current wrong germanica ID will be trumped.
