Description:

Small insect, maybe 6mm in length. These were in my "garden". There is no pond and I am not aware of any nearby.
I have uploaded 7 photos because I think they all show one or more feature more clearly. They are almost certainly not the same insect. There seemed to be quite a few similar insects within an area of approx 5 sq metres. The 1st 4 photos are the same specimen and the 5th and 6th are most probably a different one but are of the same insect. The 7th may be the same as 5 and 6 but could easily be a different one.
They all look like the same species to me but I will happily separate the observations if there is a possibility they are different or it would be otherwise helpful.

Habitat

Thanks Grizzled B.

Grassland pretty much describes my "garden".
