Description:

Hi,
Whilst at the top of Tower 42 with the Urban Birders study group, I found this Shield Bug in a puddle on the top of the building 600 feet up! It had obviously been carried up on Thermals. After I got it out the puddle it eventually flew off.
Any ideas?

Hi Gideon

I think this is a Juniper Shield Bug - they eat juniper and cypress. I think you're right about the thermals, unless it took a ride on someone in your group!
