Always admire your photos. I am going to treat myself to a DSLR,I love the convenience of my Canon SX 30 which is a bridge camera with a very large zoom, but get frustrated that I can't get that bit closer, so am going to get a DSLR and macro lens. Any ideas?I want something easy to operate, a starter DSLR with a good macro lens. Any ideas, suggestions welcome!

Hi David, I trust you are well. I am a Nikon man and a great outfit would be the new D3200 with a Nikon 105 mm macro VR lens. 24 m pixels is a lot but its makes you very versatile. Regards Chris.

Its been about 8 years since I made the transition from compact to DSLR. What I will say is that it can be quite a difficult transition to start with. I can remember being a little disappointed with my first efforts but once you get the hang of the settings (and there are many) you definitely get better results. That said though compacts can and do produce some wonderful images, it's just that the DSLR is more versatile.
