Description:

A plant I have not seen before. It was tricky to photograph owing to its small size and the fact that it was growing on the woodland floor in only dappled sunlight so depth of field was difficult to get.

Well done well for capturing it so well. I'll be out looking for it myself today.

Thanks, I didn't know what I was expecting but it was much smaller than I thought it would be, a real get on ones knees in damp soil job.

I like the alternative name of Townhall Clock, it's a good description of the flower head but I know what you mean about them being tricky to photograph... you've done a very good job here.

Thanks, I agree "Town Hall Clock" is just a great name, I think I'll use it from now on.

It's one of a couple of plants

That the first edition of Keeble Martin's flora had a personal note about in the text. Being a minister, he described it as "a symbol of Christian watchfulness".
The Common Nettle was another, described as "too common".
Both of these disappeared in the later editions. A shame.
I agree, by the way, that these are superb photos.
