What is this, it was like hair gell?
Description:

I noticed this 'goo' while in Japan recently. It was found throughout the canopy of this tree.
Any ideas?

Tree sap?

Good suggestion. I should have picked some up. It looked very watery and jelly like. I can't remember there being any on the floor, but can't be sure.
Thank you

Resin

Having looked closely at the photo I took, the jelly like clumps appear to have a distinctive shape (appearance of a cylinder at the lower point). The tree was growing next to a mountain stream and the people we were with who live there had never seen this feature before. Our friends were local farmers and thought it could have been eggs of some description but I wasn't sure.
