Photo is a bit under exposed

Photo is a bit under exposed but it looks rather like a long-eared owl to me.

Ditto

This is an Asio, not a Strix.

Owl identification

Which features lead you to such a definite conclusion Ian?

Ignore

Ignore my comment...made in haste just before I went out!

It's worth adding that there was only one picture when I wrote that, If I am remembering rightly. I meant to return to it later, but must have forgotten.

I'm sure you a right as you

I'm sure you a right as you were there and, although the body length look right for tawny owl, its still difficult to judge wing length. Just shows the limitations of photography particularly when the angles and lighting are challenging. I can tell its a male goldeneye though!
