Lying very still on the weeds at the surface of the water in a marshland pond. About 15cm long.

Thanks. The ridges down the sides of the back seemed a bit prominent for common toad. But there isn't a yellow line down the back- is that a less significant feature? And he is very warty! Is pupil shape important? I posted as I was unsure!
The ridges (dorsolateral folds) are very prominent and a good characteristic for a Pelophylax frog. Marsh frogs are pretty variable in colour and pattern but most of the ones in the UK tend not to have a stripe down the back (I would guess less than one in ten do from what I have seen). Pupil shape is similar to a toad but the iris is a different colour.
