Brownfield/wasteland habitat

I thought this had been suggested before but can't find any discussion about it. Either way, it seems an obvious category to add and one that is not adequately covered otherwise.

Agree

Totally agree and it has been talked about, mostly under the guise of ‘Urban’. Took us long enough to get the urban button (which doesn’t signify what I (and you WS159) would like) so don’t hold your breath. Perhaps that is the way it should be, it would be easy to end up with a plethora of habitats and subhabitats which, for this sort of site, would only be confusing for some novice.

An example: BTO volunteers have 8 main habitats to chose from, each having three subhabitat categories with each category having a choice of up to 10 options. And you know what? I still stand in an environment thinking ‘I can’t find a habitat combination that properly prescribes this’.

Yes, but the problem is there

Yes, but the problem is there is nowhere else to put these obs - I'm mostly categorising mine as "parks and gardens" but they're not really. I do tick the urban button too.

And a subhabitat option might be nice for those who choose, so people could stick with a top level description or refine further if they wanted that detail.

Often Used

Parks and Gardens does cover a multitude of sins doesn’t it.

wonder

I wonder if Location Notes could solve this issue. So few people seem to use this feature.
If so, then a filter could be added somewhere - say Tips and Refuse; Parks and Gardens; Swimming Pool - you'll get my drift..
