Pipit

For the reasons given by jerebarker, this is a Pipit, and almost certainly Tree. Skylark is an altogether chunkier bird and has a different shaped, stronger beak, and the wings stretch further down a shorter tail. they are very different birds, when seen well.

Never sure ...

... on this but does the carousel linking need common name (scientific name) to work?

Good point!

Well spotted, Ray...I had not noticed that! Doesn't alter the fact that the ID of Skylark is still outweighing Pipit, even though...

Oops!

Where can I put my face... In my defence, I was being pestered to make lunch by my 15-m-o daughter at the time - not the best conditions for making a reasoned ID! Can I amend my identification, or does someone else want to take credit?!
