Scottish or Common Crossbill?

I have posted a crossbill before but I got another slightly clearer photo of one in a different location and wondered if it is possible to say whether it is a Scottish crossbill or Common crossbill. I didn't hear its call.

It's honestly not going to be possible to prove one way or another, from a single photo.

There is overlap in size and bill structure between the two. The angle, slightly from below, makes it hard to judge the bill's heaviness.

Crossbill identification

Not sure if I'm correct but I've a feeling about the only way to truly identify Scottish Crossbill has something to do with the pitch of its song which requires careful scientific analysis - like I said I may be way off the mark.
