Description:

Habitat: Alongside small river in woodland.
Another one I can't really put a name to; the leaves on the flowering stem are very different from the basal leaves. Sorry forgot to measure or include a size reference in photo, the leaves are around an inch or so long

Thanks All

Cicuta's suggested ID seems more likely to me. The site is fairly close to home so this is another one I'll have to go back to in order to confirm the ID once the flowers are out. Will post an update when I do.

Hate to go against Tim Rich, but this is definitely not Sanicle. The way in which the leaf is lobed at the base (vaguely pedate, with a further side lobe coming off the lateral lobe) is not a Sanicle feature but pops up in various Buttercup family members. The third picture, showing the leaf lobes becoming increasingly linear up the stem, clinches it. Ranunculus auricomus.

EDIT

Photos 4 and 5 confirming Cicuta's ID were taken on 04/05/2013 and added to observation on 05/09/2013. Earlier IDs were made on the basis of vegetative features only.
