Have you seen a Spotted Redshank in summer plumage, Simon? One of the very best sights among waders, in my opinion, and well worth a trip to look for one. The elegant shape, combined with the spangly black plumage, is just beautiful. My favourite wader, definitely.
In fact, must go and look for one myself...!

No, Ian, I've never seen one. I shall follow your recommendation, and look out for them in future. Where's a good place to look?
I used to see them a lot at places like Elmley Marshes and Cliffe Marshes in Kent, but anywhere with coastal lagoons could produce them...north Norfolk and so on.
