I went back to the same spot where I saw this bird last week, and there it was again, but much closer so have managed to get a better couple of images.

Thanks for the complement John. It's not a digital SLR but a Canon SX 30 which has a 35x zoom. I find it ideal for birds but I am also able to get reasonable close ups of plants which is my main interest and it saves having to carry different lens's about!

Bridge Cameras

I have to admit I’m highly impressed with the images produced by bridge cameras these days. As my high end DSLR lens has recently gone west (and little sign of being in a position to replace it with similar for a while) I’m tempted to look at one of these. The Coolpix p510 would be stretching the budget but it does have a x42 zoom which is just silly.
