We're not sure but at least one of the birds was ringed with a single ring on the left leg. We have a couple moire photos if these would help with id

The buff tips to the (greater coverts) wing bar are a sign of Lesser Redpoll, especially in combination with the dark ground colour to the flank streaking and overall darkness of plumage. Common Redpoll (flammea) is a paler bird with a white wing bar, in comparison.
