Interesting to see the different techniques used by the hoverfly - balance across the flower - and the bees(one also in picture) who dived into the flower head-first instead.

tenax

The abdominal markings are variable in Eristalis and the dark front tarsi are shared with several other species. The rows of hairs down the eye are unique to tenax, though, and they are clearly visible here.

Interesting thank you. Just found out about hairy eyes in honey bees too.
