Focus

Focus or motion blur? What was the shutter speed setting?

You could well be right. Shutter speed was way too slow. The three shots were all at 300mm with shutter speeds of between 1/160 and 1/125s. However, the camera was leaning against the hide window frame and VR was on.

I had been taking snaps in a bright area and quickly switched to the wood floor for the YHs. No excuse but its all I've got :-)

I've had this trouble with yellowhammers before.

Next time I see YHs I'll up the shutter speed and see if I still get the same effect.
