Could you explain your ID please? This didn't look like the hazel I identified on the same day.
There is not much to go on, but those fat buds could only be Tilia or Corylus. The colour of the bark is typical Corylus as are the downy younger shoots.
Just been back for another look, definitely hazel - don't know why I thought otherwise!
