Origins

This "prehistoric-looking" goose apparently originates in northern Australia and Papua New Guinea; apart from its distinctive colouring, it has longer than usual legs and only partially-webbed feet. The male apparently has a domed head, whilst the female is similar in all other respects but is "domeless". The usual grouping is one male and 2 females, but this pair seems to be male.
