Approx. 1 inch long, very dark slate grey rather than black with vivid red markings. Only 4 legs visible but I assume it has six. On east facing wall of stable yard.

That was a quick response, thank you. I always thought cinnabar was brown so assumed the moth to be. I see it can be quite red and so the name now makes sense. I often see the caterpillars and the more the better as they eat the ragwort.
