The "Bat" shaped mark on top of the thorax is distinctive in this hoverfly.

Eriozona

As you say, Eriozona has moustache bands, but this fly does not...moustache bands are when the yellow stretches across the abdomen, without a break in the middle. And Eriozona has a dipped vein, but that is only a shallow dip, not a real loop like this fly. They are quite different, really, but not when you are just starting out with hoverflies! Eriozona would be a good find, they are so similar to Syrphus they are hard to pick out.
