Caterpillar cocoon - Pagham Harbour, West Sussex

Description:

This is a cocoon of Brown-tail moth caterpillars in a bramble hedge bordering Pagham Harbour. The caterpillars are black with two dotted white lines running down each side with what appears to be two reddish dots at the rear end. They are aslo covered in fine hairs.

These are definitely Brown-Tail, but this is a larval web, rather than a cocoon - they're not pupating yet!
