Pond fish

This is probably not a "proper" topic for iSpot, but there seems to be a wealth of knowledge on all sorts of subjects here.
We've inherited a small pond with, I'm told, koi and goldfish in it.
This is bad news for the amphibians and other native species we'd prefer. Anyone had experience re-homing these critters? It doesn't help that we don't know how many there are.

Local group?

It would be worth checking to see if there is a local group of koi enthusiasts. Don't forget that some koi have a considerable value.

Thanks -

I did enquire at a local pet shop, but no luck so far. If they haven't frozen to death this winter, I'll try to find out exactly what we have, then put up an advert.

THE BRITISH KOI KEEPERS SOCIETY (BKKS)

A quick Google search came up with this. They may be able to put you in touch with local enthusiasts. Their website is at http://www.bkks.co.uk/

Thanks again -

I'd like to be sure that there are actually koi in there (as I was told, but house sellers do tend to accentuate the positive) before I go much further, but that's a great help.
