Description:

A very fat frog lumbering across my lawn. Probably on the way to my pond to spawn, the only downside is that my Koi just love frog spawn and devour it every year.

it's so fat the skin looks stretched even smoother than usual. Less of a frog though and more of a fresh-food dispenser it seems..

I think this is probably a male due to the blueish tinge to the throat and the chunky forearms.

I assumed, probably wrongly it seems, that as it was so fat that it was a female laden with spawn.

The throat of the female is usually, more white/yellow in colour. Do you have any pictures which show the front feet? At this time of year you should be able to see the dark nuptial pads on the insides of the inner toes.

Sorry no more images available as its in the bottom of the pond now and I don't really want to disturb it. Thanks for the tip though I'll look for that in future.
