Description:

All photos are of the same species of fungus I have cultivated on horse dung indoors. I don't know which species of Coprinus they are, can some one help identify them please.

Identifications

Caution: Do NOT use iSpot to identify fungi to eat!

Some fungi are very poisonous so a mistaken ID could have serious consequences.

Still not enough information

Still not enough information to narrow it to species, could be Coprinus cortinatus, Coprinus filiformis, Coprinus bellulus and several others.

Well at least we agree its a Coprinus, I can't identify which one it is, there are so many and being a newbie it's really tricky.

There is nothing unusual at not being able to identify certain species without expensive gear and expensive books not to mention knowing whats important to look for. Considering its diminutive size and ephemeral nature I would be happy at genus and move on ;-)

Thanks DMH, I agree, filed under Coprinus and I'm moving on to the next one. Mycology is blowing my mind, very, very tricky. Sometimes I feel like a lost sheep, without it's flock or the shepherd to guide me. It's all trial and error, a lot of hits and misses at the same time, but it's a wonderful challenge and I'm not giving up!

Being on pure dung my favourite would be C radiatus but as DMH says lots of work to be sure so accept Coprinus(Coprinopsis;))
