Size

Certainly a female, and perhaps one born last year. That would not effect the size, though, as juveniles/first winter birds are the same size as adults. You do get a bit of variety in Blackbird sizes, at least some continental birds wintering here can be larger than our own native birds. Maybe just a smallish local bird, then?

Size

It was running along the hedgerow in the company of a Robin and at first I thought it was a very large Robin! Certainly small for a Blackbird.
