Description:

I thought this was a Buzzard at the time but the photos I took suggest Red Kite. Wondering what the consensus will be...

Are they all the same bird Jon ?

I believe so although it was

I believe so although it was hard to capture as it flew up and away quite quickly and my camera was on maximum zoom.

Two?

I think I share Chris’s concerns; pictures 2 and 4 look like a different bird to me, possibly a red kite (hints of a forked tail, the large white patch on the underside of the wing). The others I would agree with Ian are likely to be a buzzard.

Like Ray and Chris, I think

Like Ray and Chris, I think there are two species represented here. I think that all of the images, barring the one at the top right (image two?, which is a kite, presumably red) show common buzzard. I have just got back from a four kilometre walk this morning when the same two species were prominent in my thoughts and binoculars – I saw about five pairs of displaying kites (and at least 15 birds in total) and two buzzards. Never get tired of them.

Buzzard

My agreement was based on images 3,4 and 5 which appear to be of a Common Buzzard. Image 2 is where the confusion lies, it looks like a Kite an first glance which it may be.
