Description:

Large clumps, several feet across, of a yellow flowered Fabaceae with small serrated leaves among sand dunes at Alvor, Portugal. Seems a perfect match for this sand dune restharrow: O. ramosissima (syn. Ononis natrix subsp. ramossisima) http://www.flora-on.pt/#/7D0RI

Restharrows

Many thanks for your confirmations of many of my recent Algarve postings, if not yet this one!. Yes, your Sardinian plant looks very similar in flower and leaf form to me, though the clump is smaller and you've gone for the O. natrix version of the name, while most sources in Portugal seem to use O. ramosissima, but I'm pretty sure it's the same species. It's also recorded at the very site - Alvor - where mine were taken by Walter Jacinto who seems to be a real expert on Portuguese nature based on the thousands of images he has posted, and his are often used by EOL as a trusted source: http://eol.org/data_objects/15661573 http://eol.org/pages/1230281/overview
