Observed: 26th February 2013 By: ChaltoChalto’s reputation in Birds

Description:

Gull - approx herring gull size on Estuary. Mantle clearly lighter grey than local yellow-legged gulls. Dark end-third of bill and greyish, not pink, legs suggests Andouin's gull, but bill base yellow, not red which would be commoner in 2nd winter Andouin. Generally rather scruffy, sick or moulting?

Audouin's

Can't make my mind up from the single picture, but you should correct the spelling to Audouin's Gull (Larus audouonii).

gull

My first thought was common gull, but a closer look reveals that the bill is much too heavy. Everything looks right for 2nd-winter Audouin's, but a flight shot would be nice!
