Description:

On top of sandy bank/root on farm in Weald. Lightly branched stems up to 2cm long. Leaves slender egg shaped with a point + nervethat almost goes to tip. Capsules infrequent, borne on setae less than 1cm, capsules 1mm long.

Thanks Tim, but...

Just had a look at the sample and I can't see any roughness on the setae at x20. I saw some B. rutabulum on the SWT moss course on Friday and that seemed to have a bit more substance to it than this, though that could be down to differences in water content, I suppose.

The roughness of the seta is key, so if it's smooth this must be some other species. I couldn't tell you what, though.
