Looks like quite a young rat to me.
It is a youngster and there are probably several more of the same family about; providing that there is food around, they are great survivors. I have seen them about all winter in many places.
I thought it had a 'ratty' look about it also but thats not based on much experience. This would explain my confusion at several small rodents which were caught in traps in my place of work- I thought they looked like young rats but they were much more likely to be, as above, house mice.
